Y’all. I love film.
I am very new to this kind of beautiful, nostalgic form of photography. Two or three years ago, I bought over 30 rolls of 35mm film from eBay, and I am just now getting around to using them. Of the eight film cameras I own, four of them work and take 35mm film. So why is it that I haven’t taken the plunge and shot film before now?
I actually don’t know the answer to this. Money was probably a factor; film photography is not a cheap hobby. Fear of failure was another. Ultimately, I think I was afraid that I wouldn’t know what settings to use or what photos to take, resulting in under/overexposed photos or people blinking, etc. Weirdly enough, I think that says a lot about who I was as a person in the last year or so.
The last few months have been full of a lot of new things. Some of these things are to be shared, and I am excited to continue sharing my film photography as I grow and learn to stray away from automatic mode on my Canon Rebel 2000 (basically, the film version of my DSLR).
I filled a roll in the month of June (something I didn’t realize until I started writing this journal and had to come up with a title). I already only have seven photos left on the roll I’m using now, and I also have rolls in the three other cameras I mentioned earlier. This new thing is a thing I very much enjoy, so expect to see more ☺
You can also expect to see some of these photos on my Instagram, but I inevitably won’t post all of them, so I am putting them here.
The photos below were taken with a Canon Rebel 2000 on Kodak 400 film.
