June 21, or Make Music Day, is a worldwide day to celebrate music. According to Make Music Day’s website, the celebration started in France in 1982 and now takes place in 750 cities in 120 countries. Musicians of any genre (and from all walks of life) take over street corners, perform in alleyways, and even play in front of your favorite restaurants. All day. And, it’s free.
Somehow I had never heard of this magnificent day until yesterday. June 21. While it was happening. Just a mile from where I work.
So of course, I grabbed my camera (and made the mistake of wearing my Jesus sandals) and drove downtown after work to listen to some music and enjoy the long-awaited sunshine. With sore feet and happy ears at the end of the evening, it’s safe to say I’m obsessed and will definitely be going every year from now on.
Enjoy some of the photos I took throughout the day.
