Recently, in my Media & Society class, an option for one of our papers was to write a chapter that could appear in C.S. Lewis’ Screwtape Letters. We were instructed to incorporate five points from class lectures, presentations, and discussions and explain them in a way that a mentor demon would instruct a training demon.
So basically, I loved this challenge. I decided to set my letter in today’s time period, which consequently wouldn’t fit within the original letters by Lewis. SO, I decided to continue on after the end of the original Screwtape Letters (which I recommend you read, if you haven’t; you can find a version online) and create my own demon named Pillstrike–a cousin of Wormwood–who is assigned to a young, female patient and is being mentored by her uncle, Screwtape. I really enjoyed writing this, and I hope, if you take the time to read it, that you will enjoy it to.
